Advancing Undergraduate Chemistry Education

Our research interests revolve around students' attitudes towards chemistry, factors that influence those attitudes and what can be done on a curricular level to bolster their interest towards chemistry.

Welcome to the Odeleye Chemistry Education Research Group!

Our student-centered research lab uses qualitative and quantitative methods to explore various research questions.

Our lab members are interested in several projects, including:

  • factors that influence student attitudes towards chemistry and STEM in general (especially students in introductory/general chemistry courses)
  • metacognition and factors that affect levels of metacognition
  • students' experiences in chemistry labs and ways to improve these experiences
  • perceptions of students and instructors towards experiences in general chemistry, including assessments
  • teaching assistant (TA) training and professional development.
